One of the coolest things I've ever done in my professional career...
We've been planning this event for some time now and we were all antsy to get it done. And now that it's over, I couldn't be more proud of my organization and the final outcome.
We had a brainstorming meeting a few months back for things that we could do entertainment wise to keep fans interested in hockey. One of the ideas that was brought up in a meeting was a surprise hockey game. One of our staff members had seen a budweiser commercial where bud surprised an adult rec league by bringing in fans and mascots and an entire game presentation. The end result, very surprised players and a lasting memory.
We decided that we wanted to do something similar. We decided to surprise two local youth hockey teams with a professional game experience. We brought in our mascot, our dancers and ice girls, our well known anthem singer, our PA announcer, fans, the whole nine yards. We wanted to keep it a secret so that there was no way that any of the families would know what was going on. That meant that we had to invite our Preds fans without telling them why they were showing up.
While we are hoping that this video goes viral and that we get some good publicity for this event, I was more so excited about the memory that these kids will keep with them. As I said before, I am very proud of the team that put this whole ordeal together and am very happy with how everything turned out in the end.
